Middle School Skinnies 2017

Everyone has a story to tell. If you do, this is the class for you. Students will have the opportunity to create a short story based on a character during a single moment in time and at a single location. A great way to introduce the basics of creative writing and to share their works in progress.

Join in some fun!

Students will interact with different puzzles and/or card games every day.

Students will be visiting a nursing home and take time to visit, play cards, build puzzles, etc. with residents.

Go for walk around town and appreciate the things around us...see how neat things are in our community:-). If rains we'll have current event discussion indoors.

Learn logical thinking and problem solving skills.

Beginners only. Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to exercise both mind and body? Try geocaching ("jee-oh-cash-ing"), the fast-growing sport that's akin to a modern-day treasure hunt.

Love to sing and dance? Be a part of the "One Day More" closure finale with the high school music students on CRC stage.

                      Students will learn to play many outdoor games!  Each day will be a different game, Jenga, bean bags, bocce ball, and dart baseball.

Pride Productions- An introduction to PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) We will be implementing PBIS in the fall at the Middle School. Wondering what that is?? Join our group to find out! We need some awesome students who are willing to do some acting and demonstrating the behaviors that go along with PBIS. The video we make will be shown to all the students this fall on our first day of school!

Students will focus on different games each day (Pictionary, Hand held games, Super Nintendo etc.)

Make Something Amazing Whether you're brand-new to DIY or a creative pro, Cricut will help you make personalized, professional-quality projects with ease. Cut and create projects for home décor, parties and events, weddings, apparel, and more.

We will learn the basics of tennis….the rules, how to play, and how to keep score.  We will be outside, weather permitting, to enjoy the sunshine and the last week of school.  Please dress in athletic wear with tennis shoes and please bring a racket if you have one.  Otherwise tennis rackets and balls will be provided.

In teams, students will compete in daily challenges.

Students will make 3D creations with the 3D pens in the library.

Bring STEM concepts to life with K'NEX® Education! The Real Bridge Building set is designed to assist students in their study of the history, function, structural design, geometry and strength of bridges. They will also investigate concepts related to the physical properties of materials and their application in the placement, design, and construction of bridges.

Each day will be different. Our activities will range from fitness, brain power, healthy snacks, and a little community service.

In this Skinny, students will have the opportunity to learn and use various knot-tying techniques to make fun and colorful string craft/friendship bracelets.

Have some fun with technology and learn coding using spheros and ozobots!

Students will learn about many factors impacting different sports in today’s world. Class is discussion based and includes brief readings. Topics include college eligibility, Title IX, Greatest Ever, Mascot name changes, sportsmanship, playoff systems, Instant replay, Steroids, College Pay, Media obligations, what qualifies as a sport (golf, nascar, wwe), and etc.

Try your "hand" at a game of Spoons, Cripto, etc.

If you've played a little or want to get started, you'll have several songs you can play by the end of May term week.
